SliderFest 2017
October 14th, 2017 @ 01:00 PM

Event Description

Four chefs will gather 'round the Beefy Alter, each with his or her own creative, tantalizing slider recipe. But, as in the Highlander universe, there can be only one. At the end of the day, the votes shall be cast, the verdict laid down. There will be much gnashing of teeth and weeping from the losers, and one triumphant victor shall rise, sacred Golden Spatula in hand.

Tickets are $30, and that gets you all the sliders you can eat and all the beer you can drink. All proceeds from the event go to raising money for our Bike MS team, raising money to fight Multiple Sclerosis - the terrible disease my mother had.

Andrew's review

First and foremost, please forgive me for this long-delayed recap - it's taken me this long to recover physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually from the savage, ferocious glory of this year's SliderFest competition. The mystical magicaliciousness of those mini moo pies left me gasping for breath whilst drowning in well-deckled sirloin.

This was a contest for the ages.

But, as France's premiere thespian Christopher Lambert reminds us in his magnum opus film "Highlander," there can be only one. And that one has emerged, like a triumphant gastronomical gladiator, from the field of beefy battle.

So without further ado, I give you this year's SliderFest Champion: Fay's Gabbagool Burger!

User ratings

Excellent first entry. Not enough textural variety, but the slices were spot on.

I liked the texture with the addition of shrimp to the patty. Good flavor, and also good touch with the butter/vermouth brush on the buns before grilling them. Because the party was more complex, the toppings were better left simple. Could have had a tiny bit more of a kick in the remoulade, but then again I'm a hot sauce masochist.
