It was a glory to gather once more under the beefy banner of Burger Club. Whitmans remains stalwart, if never singular or spectacular. The Hound burger was a bit overcooked and the lack of AC not great for the bowels of July – but the company was fantastic, the beer was cold, and there were Tots... We’re back baby. Special thanks to Greg, Blossom, and Claude for their hard work on the 2.0 site!
Medium-rare (as I asked) might have been better and juicier but this was definitely medium or well and on a drier side. Bacon and crisps added to the texture but overall just okay.
While this burger was delicious, it was slightly underwhelming, mainly because it was slightly dry, certainly due to being slightly overcooked. Ambience was wonderful with fun music, though slightly hot downstairs with one fan.
The Hound! Delightful to return to a classic, but it unfortunately it was overcooked a bit and the patty felt a little salty between the bacon in the patty.
But! Nothing could bring me down on the day that Burger Club 2.0 returns.
I had the Mangold last year, and it was delicious. This time I had the Hound, and it is going to be hard to beat. Perfect ratio of patty to toppings. Crunch from the shoestring fries. Umami from the cheese. Bacon-y flavor, excellently cooked medium rare. I usually try for variety, but I would order this again next time and be delighted.
Sides came out after the meal, and I was too full to enjoy more than a couple of the fries. The staff brought out bowls of crispy tater tots with sauce before our burgers came out - points for that! - and the tots were great.
All ‘round awesome time.
A fine bacon-infused burger. The smoked gruyere cheese paired perfectly with the bacon below. Andrew seemingly cross-promoted this with his classical music lists ... Andrew = 2.3/10
The Hound remains the king! Shishito peppers/fries could have used a little more salt, but the free, incredible tater tots more than made up for it.
Andrew did great and has some amazing accessories today.
The Hound is a Myriad of taste and texture. All the right decisions were made is constructing this beauty- the savoriness of the meat, texture of the bacon and potato and choice of gruyere cheese is anything you could ask for.
As for Andrew...he’s wearing a snappy burger pin, and I appreciate the relativness. He also recently got a haircut...which was a good move. He also grows toe nails like Wolverine... Repect.
